【エクササイズ２】
メタファー伝達のバリエーションを学びましょう。つまり具体的にどのようにしたら、すばらしいメタファーを作った参加者が、そのメタファーによって影響を与えたい相手に対して、確実に効果的な伝達ができるか、ということを学びます。
考慮される伝達のバリエーションには、以下のようなものがあります：
ークライアントの呼吸に合わせて、メタファーの伝達をマーキングする
ーメタファーをより受け入れやすくするために、リプレゼンテーショナルシステムを用いる
ー伝達のスピードを３分の１ほど遅くしてみる
ーリズムを変える
ー妨害を加える（騒音、姿勢を変えるなど）
ー否認するもの（ 疑いを除いたり混乱を招くためにストーリーに含めるもの）
ー前提
このバリエーションはひとつずつ提示され、デモンストレーションされ、時間の許す限り、参加者がこうしたスキルを使えるようになるためのエクササイズが与えられる予定です。
昨年の、カルメン・ボスティック・サンクレアとジョン・グリンダーの大講演会に参加された方は理解されたであろうと思いますが、カルメンとジョンはセミナーでプレゼンテーションする内容を、セミナーの参加者の反応によって常に変更、調整し続けます。そうすることで、彼らは参加者の特定のニーズや希望にこたえることができるのです。参加者がメタファーを作り、提示するために、また彼らの個人的な深いメタファーを発見し、洗練するために、必要なテーマやパターンがカルメンとジョンによって明らかになったら、それからのテーマやパターンが追加されることでしょう。

Three models for the composition/creation of metaphors

Isomorphic metaphors
The beginning of the consideration of the delivery variables- that is, how specifically can the participant who has composed an elegant metaphor ensure that this metaphor is presented effectively to the person who they wish to influence by metaphor. Among the delivery variables to be considered, we have the following:
−marking the presentation of the metaphor in coordination with the client's breathing
−use of representational systems to facilitate acceptance of the metaphor
−speed of presentation reduced by 1/3
−shifting rhythms
−incorporation of any disturbances (noises, shift of posture etc)
−disclaimers - things that you include in the story to remove suspicion or confuse the client
−presuppositions
Each of these variables will be presented, demonstrated and as time permits, exercises will be given to promote the transfer of these skills to the participants.
As those of you who attended last years Big Lecture by Carmen Bostic St. Clair and John Grinder likely have worked out, Carmen and John continuously modify and adjust their presentation to the responses of the participants in the seminar. By doing this, they can respond to the specific needs and desires of the participants. There will be additional themes and patterns offered as John and Carmen become aware of what the participants require to learn to compose and present metaphors and to detect and refine their own personal deep metaphors
